About Me

EFT Tapping Therapy

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
– Carl Rogers

I offer more than 20 years of professional experience. I have found various helpful tools in my work. My overall focus is client-centered humanistic therapy. I also find great value in the use of focusing and mindfulness: the process of being present to what is happening in the moment, including feelings, thoughts and a bodily felt sense. I also believe fully in the healing power of curiosity, laughter, and playfulness.

For the past five years, I have trained in Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT. EFT is a gentle mind/body approach that releases unresolved emotions, challenges limiting beliefs and uncovers and releases early core issues. Many clients have said that using EFT greatly reduced their fear, anger, shame, and stress.

I struggled for years with anxiety and limiting beliefs about myself and the world that kept me stuck in self-defeating patterns in relationships, work, and general well-being. I imagined that I would continue to “muscle through” my life until I was introduced to and began working with EFT.

Using EFT, I have greatly reduced my fear and anxiety, challenged my old beliefs and healed core wounds. I do still feel anxious at times, but I now know it is a natural part of being human. I live with much more self-acceptance, calm, confidence and joy.

And I can help you live that way too.

In my 20 years as a therapist, I have worked in a variety of settings. My first experience was as a counselor in two different university counseling centers. I have worked as a therapist and consultant in a Vietnam Veterans Center and three years in military settings in the United States and Europe as a Military Family Life Counselor. More recently, I worked in Community Mental Health and gained much knowledge and understanding of chronic mental health issues.

Also, during all this time, I have maintained a private therapy practice.

When not working, I love being outside either hiking, canoeing, kayaking, camping, x-c skiing, or just hanging out in the sun or rain and fresh air of the Pacific Northwest. I believe that time spent in the natural world is an absolute tonic for both our physical and mental health.
